ILRIO Preparatory Program
Princeton and Harvard alumni in Brazil launched the ILRIO Preparatory Program in 2008 to build a solid and large stream of applicants. Since then, the following institutions have joined: Yale Alumni of Brazil, Georgetown Alumni of Brazil, Princeton in Latin America Fellowship Program (PiLA), the Harvard Brazil Office, and the Harvard Center of Public Interest Careers The ILRIO Preparatory Program identifies and supports academic and leadership potential for study at top universities in the United States. It provides free college counseling to Brazilian schools across the country based on their academic promise and commitment. Participants’ SAT tutoring, testing, books and any other costs relating to the application process are fully covered. The program provides comprehensive and free support in the application process to US universities that includes: • Helping students apply to American universities of Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Georgetown caliber. These schools are need-blind, meaning they do not consider finances as part of the application process, and offer full financial, debt-fee aid to international applicants once they have been admitted. • Matching universities in the US with varying levels of competitiveness to each applicant’s profile including institutions that provide full financial, debt-free aid to international applicants for participants who cannot afford an education in the US.

• Providing SAT I and SAT II preparation through Kaplan through their offices both in Rio and in SP and long-distance learning tools for students in the rest of the country. • Information sessions and interviews with officers and alumni of Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Georgetown and other schools on the candidate’s list. The Princeton Club of Brazil and the Harvard Brazil Office provide internships to ILRIO Preparatory Program students so that they can spend their summers in Brazil, keep connected, and develop full-time job opportunities. In addition, we will use our network and pro-bono consulting from Michael Page, Brazil’s largest head-hunter, to place graduating students in the Brazilian job market. Graduates of the Preparatory Program will also be required to stay involved by supporting future applicants with the admissions processes. For more information, please visit www.ilrio.com.br. For more information about studying in the United States, please contact one of the U.S. State Department’s 25 advising offices in Brazil. EducationUSA advisors will be able to provide more information about the application process and to help you research schools.
